Gloria June Brdlik

Secretary/Treasurer

Throughout my life I have been involved in public service. I served a four-year term on the Board of CASA of Franklin County, IL and then sworn in by the Honorable Judge E. Kyle Vantrease of the Illinois Second Judicial Circuit, Benton, IL as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for battered and abused children.

While living in Illinois, I held the position of Executive Secretary of the Benton/West City Area Chamber of Commerce of Franklin County, Illinois.

The mayor of Benton, IL appointed me to serve a four-year term as a board member of the Benton/West City Authority Board in Benton, Illinois. In 2010, I received the Benton/West City Community Volunteer of the Year award.

Since moving to West Virginia in 2010, I have been searching for my niche in our area where I could serve in a capacity that would benefit the sanctity of life. During COVID, a group of Christian ladies, friends of friends so to speak, decided to meet once a week for a couple of hours to have the much-needed fellowship and for some of us, learn how to quilt. Our group has become known as; “The Son Shine Quilter’s”. When the pandemic began, there were medical professionals who asked our group to make masks and some hospital gowns with the material they provided. Our group filled their orders. For the past three years, The Son Shine Quilter’s have made and donated quilted bags and fleece blankets for the area children’s facilities, adult bibs for area residential homes, chemo port apron/bands, port cozies for car seatbelts, underarm pillows for breast cancer patients.

Quilts have been donated to area organizations for their fundraisers: WVFL Greenbrier Chapter, WV Helping Hands and currently for the Greenbrier Pregnancy Center to help in the purchase of an ultrasound machine.

I became and will remain an active member of the Greenbrier Chapter of West Virginians for Life as a fundraiser and supporter and have spearheaded several successful fundraising drives for the organization. Presently, I am a charter member of the Greenbrier Pregnancy Center (GPC) and serving as the 501C3 organizations
